Important advantages
This insurance is valid for hospital emergency in case of illness and accident!
  • In case of a hospital stay longer than one week, a family member is flown in, 10 overnight stays in a hotel plus 60 € per day are paid, as well as the return flight.
  • In the event of a traffic accident and the insured being captured by the police, AXA will immediately provide a deposit for lawyers up to a maximum amount of THB 480,000.
  • The maximum amount of THB 480,000 applies to each individual case, e.g. in three different cases per year AXA would pay almost 1.5 million.
  • All cases and payments are transferred from AXA Belgium to AXA Thailand / Bangkok, the general agent with whom Kwanta is in close contact.
  • Upon completion of hospitalisation, the insured pays a deductible of THB 2000, which is invoiced and can be settled by direct bank transfer to Belgium.
  •  Spouses with the passport of a zone 1 country of origin, can of course also join the insurance.
  • The insurance certificate with the insurance number is printed on an A4 sheet with the policy/receipt. The card should be cut out, folded and laminated and always carried along with you.
  • It is recommended to produce two ID cards, one for the insured and one for the partner.
  • These translations and statements are not binding.
  • If you have any questions, please contact Kwanta & Edmond directly, they will be happy to provide you with any detailed information.
Evaluations and personal experiences
After more than 5 years of searching for a suitable solution, this offer was simply outstanding!
With all other insurances, there were immediately massive restrictions (exclusions) because of the high blood pressure. One insurance even told us bluntly, that the high blood pressure could be the reason for practically every future illness, and they therefore probably would not pay. The starting insurance fees of THB 26,000 (by 58 years old) per year, would rise massively every year. In addition, it is also well known, that all insurance companies will "dismiss" you from 65 or 70 years of age on, often without a warning.
AXA's coverage is 480,000 THB per case for illness and accident:
The best is, you ask at the hospital, which cases of illness are covered by this amount, e.g. knee surgery, prostate etc.. For larger operations, e.g. on the heart, the amount may no longer be sufficient. In such a case, it will be unavoidable to travel home, paid for by AXA and have the operation performed in your home country. This works well for Swiss Expats, because if they re-register by returning to Switzerland, they have to join a health insurance company immediately and are therefore insured.
For everyday illnesses, we still go directly to the local doctor or to the provincial hospital. There, the expat is also treated at Thai rates (Tabien Ban/Gelbes Hausbuch, Thai-ID-Card/rosa, hospital card). The treatment costs there are so cheap, that there is no need for health insurance.
In the event of an accident, it should be remembered that a return journey to the home country may not be possible. Here, it would be appropriate to increase the cost coverage with an accident insurance in Thailand e.g. by another 500'000 THB. These insurances are inexpensive here and can be taken with AXA or at any bank. Most shopping centres also have insurance offices.
Who possesses an ATM card e.g. of Krung Thai bank, comes automatically into the benefit of an accident insurance with a 20'000 THB cover, this is included in the annual card fee of 1500 THB. This is enough e.g. for a treatment of a dog bite, including the expensive rabies vaccination.
In this combination with the AXA Expat hospital/travel insurance plus a possible increase of an insurance in Thailand for accident plus the possibility to use the government offers of the hospitals, you are best served. Extreme situations are of course always excluded. go to the go to the top
